Message from the Region IV AE Chair

It is my esteemed honor to serve you as the NSBE - Region IV Alumni Extension Chairperson. The Region IV Alumni Executive Board is excited to bring you a year that is professionally and technically rewarding.

NSBE’s Long Range Alumni Extension Vision is that NSBE will be the premier career access organization for Black technical professionals. In addition, NSBE will be a part of developing and impacting our professional members to succeed as future corporate leaders, technical experts in industry, and strong stewards in their communities.

The 2011-2012 AE Focus leaded by National AE Chairperson, Strauder Patton, P.E are to: 1) Build the NSBE Professional Brand 2) Increase NSBE AE Programs Participation and 3) Develop NSBE Professional Chapters. Region IV AE has embraced this focus to “Develop Alumni Extension chapters into community anchors that are respected resources in the areas of technical, professional, and educational advancement.”  The goal for this year’s Professional Development Conference November 4-6th in Milwaukee, WI is to provide effective and efficient programs that members support and participate in, and deliver high quality professional development and career access opportunities.

National Chairperson, Calvin Phelps said “The Alumni Extension is where you will spend the majority of your time as a NSBE member.” Know that your professional voice in NSBE is important and needed in such as critical time for the STEM Initiative campaign and the future of Engineering.

Again, on behalf of the entire Region IV Alumni Executive Board, I look forward to an exciting year.

4 Solid, 4 Life, 4 Eva,

Frenae Smith, Region IV AE Chair
